The town of Kyustendil occupies the westernmost parts of Bulgaria and is situated 20 km away from the national border with Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. It is sited at the foots of the Ossogovo mountain at 526 metres altitude. The local climate has a positive impact on the beautiful and fertile Kyustendil valley. Currently nominated as a regional centre, and with surroundings known as “the orchard of Bulgaria”, it attracts many visitors and civil engineers. Medicinal mineral springs, the fertile soil, the network of roads and nature modeled by God himself, that is what is Kyustendil all about. It impresses with the strong influence of an unbroken cultural tradition, backed by the exuberance of cultural monuments from all historical ages – parts of fortress walls, ancient streets and mosaics, medieval and from the time of Bulgarian Revival churches, mosques, public baths.
Near the town of Kyustendil is situated the small town of Rila. It is located some 80 km away from the city of Sofia, 10 km from the town of Kocherinovo and 23 km away from the town of Dupnitza.
It is well known for its proximity to the village of Stob and the famous Stob pyramids and the world-famous Rila monastery. The town is named after the mountain, which surrounds it. Due to the excellent living conditions, the town enjoys many new settlers, who particularly cherish the local climate and the tranquility of the place.
The town of Sapareva Banya is situated on the northern foot of the Rila mountain in Southwest Bulgaria. It is an administrative centre of a county with the same name, and includes the villages of Ressilovo, Ovchartzi, Saparevo and the mountain resort of Panichishte. The town of Sapareva Banya is proud of its very cold and clear drinking water from the mountain, as well as the unique mineral water, one of the hottest in the whole of Europe, with temperature of 103 degrees centigrade. In the very centre of the town spouts the one and only geyser in the Balkan peninsula. It has hotels for every tourist, some with night clubs and restaurants.
The marvellous corner of Boboshevo is a place, where two mountains meet, and the German river flows into the Struma river, a place where Struma itself leaves the gorge and heads for the sea. The river is the natural boundary of two climatic regions – that of Mediterranean and the continental Europe. A place of extremely rich flora and fauna, a place of many human cultures. It is a piece of our land, both well known and unknown, a place to discover. The county is situated at the 386 metres altitude in the south-eastern part of the Kyustedil province. The county consists of the town of Boboshevo – its administrative centre, and the villages Badino, Blazhievo, Vissoka mogila, Vukovo, Dobrovo, Kamenik, Skrino, Slatino, Sopovo, Usoyka and Tziklovo.
